On my 06 Deluxe I removed everything EFI and installed a Mikuni HSR42 with a Thunderheart standalone ignition. Then I removed the final drive belt and put on a Zippers chain kit. Then I removed the primary and installed a 3” BDL open belt primary. Also installed new cams, lifters, bearings Blah Blah Blah.
When I twist the throttle and let out the clutch there is no rubber band safety effect. It is at this point where I apparently tuck in my legs closer to the engine for wind management and self-preservation when my bike tries to tear off my left leg.
After destroying 3 pairs of jeans in 2 weeks I have found a new use for electrical tape. Covering it up with the included cover is not an option.
Would I install an open belt primary again? In a heartbeat! The Culprit
