Running a modern o-ring chain... on steel sprockets is not a big deal, and not the huge maintenance nightmare...that a lot of people who have never run one would lead you to believe.
Running a "drag race" chain on aluminum sprockets would be a PITA...I would research why an o-ring chain won't fit.
^ my guess is the 200 tire alignment with the chain eating into the primary
Deluxe and several other models did not have the 200 tire...website says "6 speed"...but is also says it's o-ring kit will only fit 2006 with 150 tire.
My bet is the o-ring chain will work fine on the deluxe...an o-ring chain is over an 1/8" wider than the 20mm belt used with the 200 tire.
I've been running an O-ring chain and a 200 conversion for 5 years. Still in the same chain and sprockets. Both look like new, & I am not nice on my bike at all. Both sprockets are steel. I'd steer clear of aluminum. I just slap some chain lube in when I do an oil change. Only maintenance I've done. Check out Night Rider I believe they still make a conversion kit.
Thanks for all the extra info. Seems like PBI is the company to grab sprockets from. Still getting more info and finding parts. I agree with running the o-ring chain.
Do you guys know what tooth you are running in front and rear sprockets?
