Default rear caliper mounting bracket 2008 Crossbones

What is the part number for the rear caliper mounting bracket?
The threads spun out with the bolt while attempting to remove the rear.caliper, not enough meat for heli-coil. I've been told that this is not uncommon and that Harley improved the bracket to leave more meat around the hole, plus they made this bolt longer as the old one only penetrated the bracket by 3/8" or so. BS or true?

Not sure about the bracket upgrade. I replaced mine and the caliper with Performance Machine years back. Still the best thing I ever did. Depending on how much that bracket runs it might be worth looking into.

As far as the bracket you've got, any bracket from any softail from that vintage should fit. The rear wasn't made specifically for the Bones.

Is this the part you need?

Thanks for the link .....The bike is actually in the shop getting new front and rear tires so I don't have the part in front of me. They can get a new one from HD but it may take a week or so.....bummer.

Well hopefully you'll get it figured out. Sucks to be without when so many are approaching the end of the season

42895-08 was superseded by 42895-08A
(42892-08 is for an XR1200)
