Default Cleaning glass on inside of speedometer?

I have what looks like to me are water stains on the inside of the glass for my speedo. I would like to clean it, is there an easy method to get to it?

There is no easy way to clean it ... It happens to a large number of HD's ... There area couple of You Tube videos you can search out ... Many learn just to live with it

Nope, those are condensation stains. Not easy taking out the tach/speedo, prying off the front trim ring to get at the glass and then putting it back on without noticeable marks on the speedo.

I had mine replaced on my 2017 FLHTU under warranty, have not had the issue with my 2019 Tri-Glide.

My Limited has been like that for about 100,000 miles now. I hardly notice it, until the sun is behind be, just right, then it sucks.

Are you saying that because cleaning it will cause future problems or because it is a bit difficult or something else?

I'm as OCD as the best of them and I live with the same thing on my 08 Heritage. It's not worth the hassle to me.

Someone did a thread on how they took theirs apart a few years ago. Big project and not easy.

I'm right there with you... I had an extremely faded dial on a 2001 Springer w/10K miles that I bought 5 years ago... I felt like it was stored outside (it was originally sold in New Mexico), as the rest of it was in excellent condition..

I couldn't bring myself to pry open the speedo and change dials. So I took a year to find a used speedo, with close to the mileage on my OEM speedo, that was in good shape. When my mileage got to the mileage on the good speedo, I swapped them out...

This guy makes it look easy, but even if it goes well, to a trained eye, you have a speedo that's been "tampered with"...

I tried swapping out the face plate on my 05 Springer (same problem-faded) and couldn't get the right face plate. Used another one while I was waiting for the new dual instrument to get to me. Not all that difficult to get the speedo glass off if you have patience and be cautious. I've changed out a number of face plates on a variety of bikes. Cheaper than buying a new instrument.
