2023 FLXRST Won't Start
So I got a 2023 FLXRST a couple of weeks ago and just rolled over 500 miles. Went to go crank it up and drive it into the garage and it would not start. It is in neutral, I've held the clutch in. I hear it click and it sounds like a fuel pump running and then it stops. Anyone else ever had this issue? I'm worried Harley is going to charge a large fee because I did not join their "VIP" stuff. They already wanted around 600 for fluid changes and a safety check of it that they said I should have at 500 miles.
The first oil fluid change is at 1k miles not 500 and the going rate for that service is between 550 and 650 dollars depending on the dealership. Your bike is under the factory warranty, they should not be charging you to fix it unless you did modification that are not covered under warranty. What nakes you think HD is going to charge you for the repair? I never or never will join their VIP crap.
Congratulations on your new bike purchase. Sit down, take a deep breath and relax. You have a two year factory warranty on your bike. It's a complex machine and things happen. It is normal for you to hear the fuel pump and then it stops. Your issue could be as simple as a low/bad battery. Your bike has a warranty so use it. It doesn't matter that you declined the VIP program. Don't start messing around with things to try and fix it. Let the dealer do that.
Just to be clear, the first factory service is at 1k miles and includes all fluid changes (engine, primary and transmission). They are expected to perform other services in addition to the fluid changes that require time (labor) which is why it is expensive. So don't think you are paying $600 to have fluids changed.
To give you an example, I have attached the 1k service checklist for my 2012 Heritage. Now, whether they do everything on the checklist is another question.
It'll get taken care of. This is nothing unusual. Enjoy your new bike. Ride safe.
