HI, I just installed one on my 07 deluxe and it is a great K&N product. I hear it has great air flow advantages over some of the other kits. Very easy to install. Don't forget to do a PC III or other fuel mod.

Yep, cheers

Was planning on V&H pipes (to be decided, either Big Shot longs with quiet baffles or Q Series Longs), Fuelpak and the K&N Filter kit.

Thanks for the response

Yep, same here. Installed it on my 07' Deluxe last night also. Little more than a Half hour job.

Won;t have to remap until you do the pipes, I beleive.....

Oh, BTW, hdflstn2628, what did you do with the little single cable and connector connectorthat was snapped into the original backplate? Kindof dangling now with the K&N...

Default RE: K&N High Flow Filter

I have one on my 07 FatBoy. Installed it 4,000 miles ago. I am happy with it -- the quality is good. I just took it apart and cleaned the filter this weekend and it's holding up fine -- still seems as good as new. Generally, any high quality aftermarket air cleaner setup (i.e. K&N, Ness Big Sucker) will perform equally well because they all allow more airflow than your bike will use. So no performance difference between any good aftermarket kit. And theymostly cost about the same.

There is a recent thread on here about people having problems with the SE air cleaner, so I would choose one of the other ones (although you can solve the problem if you have the SE kit by switching to a K&N filter element).

One downside with the K&N is that it is oval shaped, so you are limited on future cover options if you want to switch out of the stock football. The Ness doesn't have this problem. Also, the K&N has a plastic backplate. Some of the others have your choice of chrome or black powdercoated. This is minor though because you can barely see the backplate.

Good luck

You can go with the Stage 1 high flow AC and switch out the element with a K&N HD 0800. It is cone shaped thus you are able to get rid of the football cover and run with just a round cover. I have mine waiting to be put on with the chrome backplate for the stage one. You can also get a wrinkle black backplate as well.
