Ok that's a plus! Just trying to cover the bases! Had a friend of mine that took a turbo off a Toyota, back in 78,did all the work himself, none of us ever heard of a turbod Harley! It was a big deal then,he blew the engine first time he rode it.He put high domed, big compression pistons and had to much compression! But there for a brief moment we thought we were on to something!! It was a great project though, everyone in the neighborhood was around the whole time! Had a good vibe, but that was short lived. Thanks for your help! One less thing to think about!

I've had this problem for quite some time,it's to the point that I don't even want to ride it! I pour new plugs,& wires a couple of months ago! No change at all! It feels like and I think it's not getting a steady flow of fuel, it has power in 1st & 2 nd & 3rdthats when it starts usually I'm doing 60 or so shifting into 4th ,after it happens I'll continue on with the throttle and it runs right ,let off it does the same thing! It's getting fire,it's gotta be something with fuel sending unit, only thing I can think! All grounds are tight! Cables tight battery is good! Tuner or fuel related?? I plan on changing the fuel sending units, with all new lines, but that will be a couple of weeks away yet! It's a pain in my --- rn! As with most everything money is the issue + these dealers in OKC won't work on older stuff! So with my infinite wisdom,do all my own stuff! Ya know you try everything you should do but it's not helping, sometimes it's not fun biking! This issue has me second guessing everything. I do! One thing positive out of all this,is that I'm learning everything about this bike! I wanted more HP and the camshaft tensioners as we all know aren't good,so I decided to change to a gear drive with all S&S parts, everything came with the kit! Rn I'm wishing I'd just left it alone,& went back stock cams. Thanks for all of y'all's input! I've been a member for a short time here, have had questions that I posted here and the advice is alway solid.

I am unfamiliar with the Cobra Power Pro Black Tuner... I just looked it up, and am skeptical of their claims...
  • Requires no dyno tuning - plug it in and ride
  • PowrPro Black analyzes, tunes and adjusts your air/fuel ratio for peak performance instantaneously
  • Tunes acceleration fuel delivery in every gear for peak performance
  • Works with stock or modified engines, air cleaners, and exhaust systems
  • Can fine-tune the non-acceleration air/fuel curves using the Bluetooth app
  • Bluetooth app available for both Android and iOS devices
  • Can tune engine fuel delivery in specific ranges, check rpm, read fuel injector pulse width and duty cycle, and add or remove fuel in low- or mid-range rpms
Especially the part, "plug it in and ride"....

Did you or someone else actually set it up for your mods? I'm not buying that you just plug it in and whatever your mods are, it will magically adjust your tune perfectly....

It's always good to do your own work on your bike and learn about it.... That experience is priceless....

But while learning is fun and valuable... You should do some actual diagnosis of a problem, before just changing out parts.

For example, if you suspect a fuel flow issue, start with a fuel pressure check, and go from there.... Go through the system from the fuel tank to the injectors checking that all is working properly... not just throwing new parts at it...

If you have something you don't understand during your inspections, post up and somebody here will be able to assist....

Be systematic, be thorough, and be persistent... you'll figure it out..

Keep us posted on your progress....

The Indy that installed the cam kit, suggested the tuner,he said that he'd had several customers that had them and no problems with it! I purchased it I installed it and after installing took the bike to the Indy at which time he downloaded the app and tuned it according to his understanding of the app after putting the tuner on all of the popping and sputtering and backfiring my bike was doing it stopped the popping backfiring all stopped the bike ran perfectly fine other than it was running a little lean but still running excellent I have had no problems with the tuner the app was the only hold back and I finally got the app to work but really didn't attempt to adjust anything with the intentions of taking my bike to the Independent and let him fine tune it yeah unfortunately I could not take it back and have him fine tune it but the bike was running fine and there was no problems with the aforementioned issues above so over a period of time now I have had this issue of popping and sputtering not near as bad as it was at first when I put the tuner on which completely stopped it but has returned and that's what brought me here so as far as I can say the tuner worked and did its job up to the point where I was going to take it to the independent who had told me to bring it back and he would fine tune it but that the bike was okay like it was and that if I had any problems just to call which I did not the bike ran excellent but now I'm at this point and wanting to take care of the issue understand about just buying new parts and not coming up with any solid solution which I have not been doing that other than the plugs and the wires that I bought recently the fuel pump which will stock I had to take out because it was no longer functioning properly and I replaced it with the correct fuel pump kit but those three things that I just mentioned are all I have done to it ! I appreciate your input and your help very much and we'll keep you posted however it will be probably 2 to 4 weeks before I'll be able to get back to you as I am working out of town and not able to work on the bike when I get back I will start back up on working in it and we'll let you know how it goes thanks again

Thanks for that info.... I understand how the tune was handled, and am glad it was retuned after the install of the cams..

I understand you won't be able to respond for awhile due to work, but I'll share a couple more thoughts before I forget.

An actual tune doesn't usually go bad. Since it was running well, and now its performance has degraded, my assumption would be it has either developed a mechanical issue, or the tuner (which I believe is a piggy back tuner, always attached to the bike) has developed an issue.

It would be interesting to check for any codes. That may give a clue to the problem.

Anyways, we'll be here to assist when you have the time to work on the bike again.
