Default Tank Decal Identification

I am looking at a 97 Fatboy on Marketplace and these tank decals just don’t look correct. I checked the OEM parts online and they are not listed as one of the options. From the pictures the paint looks good, correct colors for 97.
Waiting for a response from the seller so I can ask if it was repainted. No mention of it in the ad.

How many miles? That paint looks too perfect for a 97. I would guess that is a repaint.

22,000 miles. Seller claims PO did it as a personal choice? not a repaint. Or maybe just the tank repaint? I searched for the emblem that is on the tank and all I can find is a metal or plastic emblem, not decal. used on sportsters 96 up. Seller has been hard to communicate with, "too busy running around" to get on the phone. If it wasn't that he is only 20 minutes away I would have given up already. I am on my yearly winter mission to buy another bike I don't need. This year I am looking for an original paint softail (fatboy/heritage)
Here's a copy of the message.

Hey - sorry I’ve been swamped and have not been able to get back to you - do you have any questions on it? I’ve had a lot of interest and a few before you that are interested in looking at it. I can keep you posted if anything falls through. Thanks.

Yeah that’s cool. If you have people lined up I understand. Has that been repainted? The tank emblem doesn’t look like a 97 FB.

Tank was painted with the Harley Davidson When I bought off the original owner they cried when I packed it up - a lot A lot of money in extras of memories- also it has the fat tire kit, Vance and Hines, air intake, crone front end …etc

Prior accident? Just the tank or was there more? Looks like we have shitty weather coming. I assume if it sells you will take it down. I am in Ridley. If I see it still up next week I will hit you up when I can get over to see it.

No accident - the previous owner liked the stripping better and had it done. Strictly cosmetic and personal preference

I have the clean title and no issues in hand

Just saying that a 28 year old bike probably wouldn’t look that good if it had a lot of miles on it.

All depends on how it's kept and the owner.

I went and checked out the 97 Fatboy Thursday. It was dusty but the paint looks great, aside from a little knick at the bottom of the rear fender and a chip on the front fender. The decal looks to have been clear coated over so it may be a repaint. Seller had a pint of silver paint on the shelf and said he had some red touch up somewhere. Looks to have a Mikuni under the hypercharger. Owner doesn't have much info on the bike but remembers original owner saying something about a cam also. He has it parked next to an Ultra Classic which probably explains why he has only put miles on it in the time that he has owned it. that and two little girls, he is at the baby making stage of life.. Someone came to look at it saturday and seller messaged me and said $7500 and its mine. I asked about the carb, the hypercharger ,etc and he said that was all done by the original owner. I called the dealership with the vin and original owners name and the dealership and the service rep couldn't find any records on the bike. Must have been done at a local indy shop so there's that. I'm going to have to go take a second, better look and see how it runs before committing to it. Too many unknowns. It may be a diamond, or it might be a turd.
