I sure hope it is not that or those. With 24k miles, you would sure think that those items would still be in like-new condition.
But things break; I'm just not used to being on my bikes. damn bike.

Strike out today. Interstate Battery was out of my battery, and Autozone doesn't sell the champion plugs for my bike anymore....Pizzz on it. Ruined all my plans. I give up.
Maybe Wednesday, when I'm out again. O'Riely's is the next shot for plugs, and waiting for Inerstate to get the batteries in, and they have no idea when that will be; they just show up when they show up.

Update : Since I did not get what I needed today I had to do something, so I went through everything I was able, for a recheck and look for clues.

No faults of any kind. The TSSM nothing. All good.
The charging system is all good. Everything checked out per the specs.

Fuel system - I do not have the proper QD's to come up with a way to check the pressure.
Turn the key on, the system goes through its normal pump sounds, and you can hear what must be overboarded fuel from the pressure regulator, which is normal. Everything is done in just a few seconds and silent. The bike did not pop off instantly like it did yesterday after making new plug leads, took a few cranks. At start-up, rough and stumbly, but it seems to clear up after a few revs. But I really did not run it that long. No chuff in the intake today, just rough running.

I am at a stumper point here.
Mr. H might be right about it being fuel-related. I don't know. Still plan on a new battery and plugs just to eliminate the easy items that could be the cause.

In the troubleshooting section, the description for the Fuel pressure regulator being bad has three items. Hard starting, erratic running, and loss of power. It also states it can easily be thought to be an electrical issue.
Here is the kicker - I have all kinds of power when you wick the throttle - and even sustained high speed is all good. That sure seems like a clue that it is not fuel-related.
"""""" I'm out of further ideas until I get the battery and plugs. Damn temped to get a coil just for the hell of it since someone said that theirs Ohmed out fine, and no faults but was the problem they found to correct simular running issues like I am having --- ???

OK - so what do you guys have rigged up to tap into the QD and fuel lines to check fuel pressure?

I do appreciate any and all input!

I believe Costco sells Interstate motorcycle batteries but you have to order it. If I'm not mistaken, Mr. H said Interstate is made by Yuasa. Maybe he'll chime in.

The Intersate is 330 CCA and the Yausa is 270 CCA and I would have to order it - which I may be doing if the Interstate does not show up pretty quick. Yuasa have always been good batteries. We don;t have Costco here.

Got a Duracell 310 in my 2000 Fatboy. Old but keeps working and still shows green on the trickle charger.

Yuasa has different models with different characteristics.

If your softail battery is only 270 CCA, it's a smaller size or a different series number than I use.

I use the "GYZxxHL" series for my Harleys. It is an AGM battery. The "GYZ20HL" I use in my softails is 320 CCA.

I found an Interstate labelled battery that was made by Yuasa, in a used bike I bought.

I could tell by the numbers engraved in the case. It was clearly a Yuasa battery #, and a Yuasa tech verified my suspicions on a phone call.

Not regularly using the Interstate batteries, I can only vouch that the one particular model of Interstate battery I saw was a Yuasa. It's possible they use a different manufacturer (ie: East Penn) for others...

FWIW... The Interstate battery that was made by Yuasa was the Interstate FAYTX20HL. The give away Yuasa series number is highlighted here- FAYTX20HL. It is not the normal "GYZxxHL" series battery I use, but has good specs.

That is the exact one I am waiting for to come in. FAYTX20HL, it is $ 135, no core charge. It is listed as 330 CCA.
I'm going to be right by the interstate store today, so I'll check and see if they have it. Be nice to get at least one item out of the equation. Also hitting O'Riely's for plugs, so if it goes well, two things out of the process of elimination. I did order a NOS HD coil for the bike - just for the hell of it. If that is not it, I'll have a spare.
Next, looking into the fuel pressure "Kits" that were recommended. I still like my idea of making my own line to go right at the QD for the tank - but the line costs as much as the Kits. Buying the kit makes more sense and can be used on my other vehicles if the need arises.

Appreciate all the help guys !

Just to nit pic...

I doubt the "YTX" series is 330CCA. The higher level Yuasa "GYZ" series is 320CCA and is a little bit more $$$.

The ads I see for the "YTX" series say it's 310 CCA.

But all the nit picking aside.....

I bought my '09 CrossBones in October 2024. It came with the Interstate FAYTX20HL battery.

The manufacture date code on the battery, confirmed by a Yuasa tech rep, was 11/16/21. I don't know any of its history, ie: when it was put into service, how it was used, how it was stored, etc.. However it is still working well and is testing strong 3-4 years later. That's a good battery.

In 11-2024, I fully charged it, left it off the charger or tender for 48hrs and then tested it. It tested quite well for a 3 year old battery.

I am just going by what the tag shows, where it was supposed to be, and the battery tech when I asked. clearly showed 330CCA. I'll ask about the Yausa connection when I get the battery.
