Default Front End Wobble on FXSTC

Ok, when I bought the bike in May it was fine. It then develoved a front end wobble at 75+. Told the local dealer (not purchased from them) and they tightened the steering head. Took my trip to Colorado and developed another wobble. I stopped in Lubbuck and they said spokes were loose and tightened them up. No problems all the way to CO and back to South TX.. About 2 weeks ago it came back. Last weekend washed the bike and removed the shield (HD quick relase) and took the bike to work today. No wobble all the way to 100. What gives?

I wonder if its the windshield that's giving you the problem?
Maybe through wind turulance around the shield.
They have been known to do strange things to the steering if the wind is at an angle.
Try putting it back on and try it again.
But don't tell anyone I suggested you take it up to a 100, cause I'm not.
Just get it going fast enough to see if the problem is there or not.

I have an 07 FXSTC with a detachable shield . I commute via highway most daysand getjerky turbulance occasionally depending on the wind strength and direction. Still a much better ride than without the shield.

Yep...windscreen causes wobble at higher speeds (especially passing tractor trailer rigs). I removed it off my Custom for the past week and solid heading down the freeway.

I get the same thing around 18 wheelers as well with the shield. However, what I can't figure out is that it's pretty consistant with or without wind. In the early morning hours, on my way to work, it's as still as can be around here and I still get a wobble regardless if I'm near another vehicle or not. I definatly agree it's a much more comfortable ride with the shield. I didn't realize how much of a difference until I took it off - no gravel in the face and no flapping cheeks [sm=smiley4.gif]

May be a long shot, according to your first post....
but I would recommend you getting your front wheel balanced again,
if nothing else just to rule that out...
IMHO...
