Another dumb dealer heard from, go synthetic. And from now on double checkanything you hear from that guy.
Any of the name brand synthetics will bea better choice for your bike, even HD's own Syn3 is better than the dino stuff.
Amsoil, Mobile 1, Redline are all at least as good and for the most partbetter, and cheaperthan even Syn3.
Just make sure you use the bottle's marked "forV-Twins" and you'll be fine.

Run any oil that is approved. Check your owner's manual for info. I've yet to see a worn out engine from running an approved oil and changing it when needed. Sure, top end jobs on bikes from 2 decades was the norm every now and then, but them days are basically over.
Me? I run 1.99 a quart dino in my Twin Cam and Pennzoil dino in my Ironhead. The Twin Cam has 68k miles on it, runs like new, doesn't need oil added between changes, and doesn't smoke.

Yup, I agree with Citoriplus. Two or more pieces of metal rubbing together at any cadance will benefit from synthetic oil. The big deal about synthetic oil is that it is harder to breakdown by offering higher heat tolerances and smaller molecules (than dino).
As many say, you can certainly survive on most of the dino oils, but why not treat your ride to the really good stuff?
Another benefit to the synthetic oils is that you can expand your time between changes. (most advertise as 5-10 thousand miles between changes). I ignor this by using Amsoil every 5,000 miles. Next time I am switching to Mobil 1 V-Twin because I see it everywhere.

Don't need to worry about whether it says "V-twin" on the can. Any synthetic of the right weight will work fine. Mobil 1 15w-50 is one that comes to mind. And an excellent non-synthetic oil is Havoline 20w-50.

If you change your oil often it dont matter what kind you use. I go with Synthetic though cause I want the best for my baby. More than likley I am wasting money but wtf.......
Good artical in this months American Iron on why Harley took so long to recomend and come out with thier own synthetic oil. Bottom line they say was years of testing and developing thier own Syn3.
Harley does not recomend any other synthetic simply because they have not tested them in their engines and of course they won't because they have their own brand! Any dealer that tells you not to use Syn3 is living in the stone age.
