floorboards
I hate floor boards, always dragging on corners, get in the way when trying to back the bike up.....
I road 614.9 or so miles through a snow storm and two heavy thunderstorms in one day on a softail without any floor boards. Yea, I could hardly stand up after but.....the things you will do for a womans birthday.......

Yea when I was younger I would ride crossycountry just for a one nighter have never had a bike with floorboards, but have bad hip and getting older so floorboards might help the long rides not ready for an old mans bike yet still like my Softail
Your first ride with them will be an experience for sure. At least mine was. I always had a softail with extended forward controls and the first time I rode my Heritage I about fell over. One foot didn't clear the floor board. It's a weird feeling at first but quickly goes away.
My Fatty came with a set on it already. As I'd never had a set before it took some getting used to, and yes, occasionally when I make a tight turn they scrape, but I wouldn't go back to pegs for anything! Any money spent which adds to the comfort of your daily ride, is money well spent in my opinion.
Do the floor boards, 50 miles doesn't sound like much to some people.
But that's an hour ofPAIN twice a day.
People that don't have that kind of nagging crap don't understand.
I don't like having to have a backrest either, but it sure makes riding a lot more comfy.
If you add Kuryakyn Mark III's or IV's you will have lots of options to move around.

and don't forget for $50 to add the Harley Goodies extention to move them out from under the pegs a little.

Once you ride with floor boards you will never want to endure the restriction of pegs.
By the way, I don't consider my bike and old mans bike, even though I am.

Also, take TFB's advice and get the Harley Goodies extension. Best $50 I've spent on my bike.

+1 on floorbords, and if you need them extended out just read this thread https://www.hdforums.com/m_2502956/tm.htm.

A very short lady friend wants to buy one & do floorboards.
She is willing to spend ~$1000 to convert it.
I want to know if she will need other pipes or a different primary cover.
I'm having my '08 NT fitted with boards and heel/toe from a Cross Bones as we speak. No impact to the covers or pipes.
I'm not so sure it would be the solution for a short person though (I'm 6' 1"). Wouldn't the boards get in the way when she's walking the bike around in a parking space?
