Default FatBoy Shocks

I'm getting ready to install the Heartland 250 kit and will need to change out the factory shocks to accommodate the lowered profile by about 2". My options are adjustable or air (without getting the compressor right away, if buy air). Any help regarding type, brand, cost, ease of use and most importantly ... comfortable ride, would be appreciated! Also, I haven't checked with Heartland yet but does anyone know if I will need a lowered kickstand? Thanks! Ron
