Default 1998 Rear Wheel on 2004. Will it work?

Here's the deal. I have the stock rearwheel off of my 1998 Softail Custom and my brother wants to put it on his 2004 Night Train. We are planning on just taking the sprocket and rotor from the 2004 wheel and putting them on the 1998 wheel and hopefully just using his existing spacers, axle etc. Does anyone know if this is all that needs to be done for this to work orif there is anything else needed? Any help is appreciated.

If you're wondering why we'd do this since neither stock wheel is very appealing, it's because the wheel from the 98 has a chrome cover on it that doesn't seem like it'd be easy to take off.

The wheel will work but you would need to get a new rotor and sprocket. Sprocket and rotor need to be for up to 99. I ran into some of the same issues w/ my 06 softail.

So if we use the sprocket and rotor from the 2004 wheel we should be fine? No issues with spacers, axles etc?

YOU WILL NEED TO USE THE ROTOR & SPROCKET OFF THE 98

Kruse,

Are you sure you read my issue right? I don't see why I would use the sprocket and rotor off the 98 to put the wheel on a 2004.
