Yes , it does work ok as a tourer - just did a big trip with wife ( had the sissy bar rack and bag for all her goodies ) BUT if I was going to do it regularly I would definitelytrade my heritage fora bagger for its handling abilities under a heavy load. The adjustable air suspension , and cornering are far more superior than a heritage under load.

ps as I have only 1 bike I choose the heritage as the best all rounder and luv it.

I agree. So does the wife. But it was better for her after I added the larger seat and taller backrest pad.
I agree with the above. I added the touring type foot rests, the touring back seat and back rest. I also tightened the shocks to midway so that it performed a little tight on it by myself but PERFECTION with a 165 pound girl on the back.

I heard so much negative talk about 2 up and the Heritage its crazy. My Heritage rides BETTER two up then it does by myself. It handles better I think. I went a mountain with some NASTY turns and I had no problems at all and actually liked the extra weight better. The two guys following me was supprised how aggressive I was two up but it was no big deal at all.

Heritage not a good 2 up bike is a MYTH!!! I was thinking about getting a Ultra well no need too. I have fell back in love with my ride. With the Ulta Touring bag and a rack I will carry as much as the Ultra if not more.

i think it is a bit silly to suggest that it does BETTER than a bagger when touring ..... it doesn;t ! it is competant in its own right but does not really compare under load. me and missus are 400 pounds , add say 60 pounds for luggage and I am telling you that there is no way it can travel as well as a bagger with adjustable ride height , clearance etc etc... a competant rider 2-up with luggage on a bagger will out dothe samecompetant rider on a heritage. don;t get me wrong , I love my heritage and wouldn;t go to a bagger unless I was spending most of my time touring 2 -up ( and that will never happen )

That is a fair description above if all you do is tour but no one I know does nothing but tour. For an all round bike meaning short trips, city driving, and touring a few times per year the Heritage I would put it against any bike HD has. A friend that has the Heritage and the King agrees with my statement as of this weekend. He has been riding for over 30 years. If all I did was tour 2 up yes an Ultra would be the bike but I do short hops of 150 miles and city driving also. My Heritage in my oppinion for that type of rider is best. Ultas in my opinion dont do as well in city riding but again that is nothing more than my opinion. It boils down to that for every rider their opinion. They must be happy with what they got and I am :-). I was just making a statement that Touring riders have looked down on the Heritage because it is not in the touring line up but it does a good job with 60 pounds of luggage, 217 pound man and a 165 pound woman. Once again just my opinion.

agree - you only have to look at my sig . the heritage beats a baggeras an allrounder - no contest , a biased opinion of course.

What brand of air ride did you put on your Heritage? I have been thinking about putting one on my 06 Heritage because a few times I have had the stock shocks bottom out. My main interest in the air ride is to make the ride more comfortable for my wife first and formost. Thanks for your help. Dixiebob in Texas
