Hey guys with Screamin Eage slip ons
I am savin my pennies to upgrade exhaust on my 07 softail.
I know many guys have the Screamin Eagle slip ons. I am considering putting on the slip ons to enhance the sound until I can afford a full exhaust change over. I am told there is not a big difference in sound between stock and SE slip ons.
What has been your personal experiences, observations with the SE slip ons. Do they sound different that stock.

The street legal SE are not much different in sound than the factory pipes
However the NOT FOR STREET USE look just like the street legal pipes
But they have a very nice sound and a little bit of bite to them and are not to loud at speed

Thats what I am running right now while I save my pennies as well, I was real disapointed in them after they were installed so I pulled the baffles out and cut them in half, gave me the sound but it ran like S@#t, so I ordered a set of the Big City Thunder baffles and put them in the head pipes and that fixed my running problem but in retrospectI would have been better off just waiting until I could afford to buy the pipes that I want. Dont forget that you are going to have to add a fuel controller When you do the pipes thus adding more money to the whole deal, guess they dont call it "hundred dollar" fornothing. I think I really bought a H'SD (Hunderds of Dollars). Ride Safe.
Rode my stock SE's about 180 miles to a buddies house for the weekend. By the time we got there I couldn't stand it anymore, so while the steaks were cooking we knocked the baffles out. Now it sounds like a Harley.
I had the street legal slip ons on my 06 heritage and I was not all that impressed with the sound. I had those on for about half a riding season(MN) then switched to the V&H straightshots slip ons. Those are good sounding pipes.
Save your money and do it right the first time.

don't bother with the screaming eagles if you were not happy with the sound. there are other slip on alternatives like Rush which many users swear by.

I had em (Screamin Chickens) for about a month on my Heritage when I 1st bought it. It sounded like a wussy lawn mower. I still have em in my attic junk. I put Cycle Shack slip-ons on it. Big improvement.
Then when I put cams in it, I put a Thunderheader on it. Never thought about slip-ons again.
Wife's 03 has VH Straight shots. They're F-in loud. Louder than my T/H.
