Default Nightrain reborn

Well some call me crazy, but I got bored this winter and tore my 04 Nightrain with 1500 miles down to the bare frame. It's starting to go back together so I'm starting a thread so you guys can watch the progress.

Specs:
Stock motor
Hand made exhaust ( U bends on order)
4 up stretch in the downtubes
2 in stretch in the backbone
+4 front end (homeade fat bastard kit)
3 deg blind trees
80 spoke wheels
200 rear
spring seat
hardtail fender mounted on swingarm
round oiltank
custom made ape hangers (1 1/4 .120 dom)
Internal wiring
Chain drive with a .810 PBI sprocket

I'm just starting to send stuff off for powdercoat, alot of my stuff is on order so I won't be able to give you many specifics yet. I'll update the pics as I get more stuff in.

Color: Candy apple red powdercoated frame, swingarm, and handlebars. Flat back tins, forks, headlight and all smaill bits. Chrome, AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE!!!

If anyones interested in similar spoked wheels see Choppershop1 on ebay. A great guy in california at Eagle parts in huntingdon beach. Great feedback, high quality stuff and does a very good job packing items. I just ordered my front wheel last night, candy with black spokes run $630 sealed for tubless tires.

Here's a few teaser pics

Sweet, we'll have to hook up for a ride if the damn winter ever ends. I'm shooting for the end of may to get a ride on this beast.

P.R., What does the bottom pic show, I can't quite work out what part of the top frame that is? Are you doing the work in "sunny" Suffolk, or is the beast across the Pond in the US?[sm=confused06.gif]

Last pic is a top view of the back bone. I'm in "sunny" Thetford, Norfolk. Here's some more pics of my latest creation, there not finished yet, I still need to turn down 1" pieces to slide into the 1 1/4 for the controls.

Well prigress has been pretty slow, did get the bars finished, and the exhaust made. Today I went after a poor duece tank with a plasma cutter. Narrowed the rear about 3 inches and lowered the tunnel in the tank by about 3 inches. (so the tank will sit higher on the backbone) Also removed the filler neck and the gas gauge. I plated off the gauge hole and tacked in a flush mount cap for the filler side.

I'll finish it up and post some new pics tomorrow.

Right on man, I am glad to see that you sleeved and plug welded your extension's. I have seen to many people "think" they know what they are doing and just butt weld there pieces in. What material are you using on the frame? On the back bone did you just plug weld the two sides or all four? On your bar's did you use DOM or HREW? It look's like your risers are welded into the bars as well, you dont think you will need to roll them back or anything. I would hate to see you get them done then the seat and all that and have to cut off your risers to rework them to be comfy. Cant wait to see more pic's lookin killer so far.
