Every K&N filter, under accessories, has a rain sock to go with it! Should would great, besides the big white K&N on it.
I was thinking about getting 1 of those

I have an open stage II K&N filter and really as long as you keep it clean and well oiled there should be little issue, however a strong downpour can do some damage. I have the HD rain sock on mine. I only intended on running it when it looked iffy and might rain, but once I put it on it stayed. I think it cost $25 or so at the local Stealer.

Not a great pic but you get the idea...

I've never used a rain sock and have riden many miles in rain without a problem. I used to put a shower cap over the air cleaner when I washed the bike, but I don't even do that anymore.

I have a sock, just because I am a 'Chicken-Little' when it comes to getting water in my motor. Not that it would happen, but I don't want to take no chances. It has been in the toolbag since I bought it. I got it mainly for heading to and from Sturgis. Got rained on, didn't use it, and bike still runs great.

Only issue/problem i have had was when i rode to Laughlin this past october. I had my 20k done on my roadglide before leaving

I got hit with some hard heavy rain for about 5 minutes.
I ended up having oil on the whole right side of my bike
My local indy shop that did the 20k "claimed" it was because they over-oiled the K&N filter.
I think its because they filled the oil up to the "fill" line and then running 80-90 mph constantly for about 165 miles had it spewing out the air filter...Plus the temp through el centro and up to Laughlin was about 110 degrees

theres a whole thread on that issue in the touring section....

Otherwise i have had no issues with an open filter on 3 of my bikes....

Man I don't know how you all have no issues running open filter in a rain unless your pulling over. I have an open filter and got caught in rain several times and even with a rain sock it still will suck water after about 5 miles in steady rain. Runs like **** once it starts pulling in water, in fact it will fall on it's face if I try to roll on more power.
I still have not found a solution, but I have a plan for the next time to try out.

I rode twice here recently in heavy rain and had the same problem. Was going to clean and reoil my filter thinking maybe it just didn't have enough oil.
It was falling on it's face hard!

I have the hd rain sock on mine. I found that running it open tended to dry the filter out faster. It would be white after about 100 miles or so. I put on the rain sock and it stays red about til my next service....

I was mostly looking at this forum listing to see if it was even needed but RSD does make socks that fit all of their filters. From what i can see the make three different ones each with a slightly different application but all with the same goal in mind.
