Now I have a 07 softail custom,I will be adding Big Radius soon, Ive been told run the fuel pac and now have seen posts on the Xied? I did own a roadking and had the map sensor, race tuner and the bike dyno'd. What still needs to be done after pipes are put on a softail?? I want to do alot myself.

 

You also need to change the air filter....my advice vance pipes, +performance air filter+ power commander or thundermax auto tune..
you are right to do it yourself, why pay some shmuck who doesnt give 2 sh@&s about you ride, take your time....its worth it .

 

The 07 and 08 bikes use a closed loop efi system. The XiED changes the air/fuel mix from idle to about 50% throttle, during closed loop.&nbsp\\;The fuel pak changes the a/f mix from about 50% throttle to wide open, during open loop. The two devices work well together but if I was to run only one it would be the XiEDs because most of our riding time is in closed loop.

 

just put the xieds on my 07 softail with hi flow filter and bassani pipes, no fuel pac. and i have to say it the best its ever ran, hands down!!!!

 

So no dyno or tuning is required

 

If you want more power, you need the whole package. If you just want it to run better and cooler without really increasing horsepower, you only need the XIED.

Do a search on DFO. It stands for digital fuel optimizer. Short and simple it is an electronic jet kit you can instal and adjust without spending a fortune. There are other units out there that are great but some only work on one end of the throttle. If you are just looking to put pipes and air cleaner on look this up.
