Did it leak much for you, especially since modern 2x4s aren't really 2 inches thick.

Thanks if anyone can chime in with a bit of advice.
You'll be fine. Put a tray or something that can hold a quart just in case, but I doubt you'll get much more then a couple drops. I got half a quart fall out into a tray on the kickstand.

One thing to be aware of and careful of is screwing the cable into the tranny cover. You need to be very careful NOT to overtighten it or it WILL break off in the cover. Leaving you with a useless cable and maybe a wrecked cover.
I found that if you put an open end wrench on the cable and turn the cover on by hand its a lot easier NOT to overpower the cable end.

Good advice on not over-torqueing the cable into the cover. I broke one, but it came out easily with an EZOut at the indy shop. It doesn't take much, since it is a hollow shaft. I would definitely plan on adjusting the clutchpack before you try to adjust the cable freeplay. Good luck!

I did mine myself. Make sure your snap ring pliers are big. Mine were a little small which made it a bitch but I got it. Overall it's not hard at all. I didn't lose much fluid either and just had it standing straight up on the lift.

Thanks, I know what you mean about needing heavy duty snap ring pliers. Mine just made the cut, barley, but it worked.

I'll heed the advice about not over-pver tightening the cable into the cover. I didn't lose much oil, maybe 1/4 or half a quart at most.

Now what is this about adjusting the clutchpack? This is the first I have heard of this. I was expecting a straightforward reinstallation this afternoon when i put it back together.

Am I missing something because noone said anything about adjusting the clutchpack .

Also, I know this is a waaaay open ended question, but what oil do most of you also use in your transmission? I'm currently using HD synthetic 20w50 but am thinking about switching to Amsoil next season.
