I like the idea of a security system but not the one i have with the harley.

All it does is shut off power and blink lights. I think it should do that and at least blow the horn too.

We have to buy an extra siren to make it do that?

I think with the technology of today they can make my horn blow without paying extra. Cars do it every day.

I added the Smart siren II and Pager/receiver II into my existing security system. Comes with easy to follow instruction.

The Dealer I bought my bike at installs them on every big twin bike they sell.
I would have opted for it anyway.

Mine was included for free when I bought the bike.

So yes, it was worth the price...

I have mixed emotions about the HD security system. my bike is parked in my attached garage and I still lock the forks and set the alarm when I park it.
but I think the factory security system is pretty much useless even though I use it (I know that doesnt make sense but neither does life)
I fully agree with 2 things already said.....the alarm should be audible from the get go. and if they want your bike they're gonna get it.

the security system wasnt a deciding factor for me. I would have still bought the bike if it didnt have it.

Most of my friend told me not to get the security system unless I wanted to be last one out of the parking lot. They all had problems with them for some reason. If someone wants your bike bad enough it is history anyway. The $225, or what ever it is, I saved paid for my first years insurance on the bike.

what is an alarm without the siren? it's not an alarm! if you want the alarm it will cost you another 90.00. if you want the pager thats another 80.00. and thats on top of the 275.00 you already paid! i think that harley is just ripping all of us off selling us half operable alarm systems that you have to spend another two or three hundred to make work properly.....REDICULOUS!!!

i agree 100% with copperchuck..[sm=lockeddance.gif] how long would it take 4 guys to pick up your bike chuck it in a van or truck and be gone? he11 there just ganna part it anyway. pager and siren is a must so it should be sold that way. thats why i`m looking at aftermarket alarms. heck they all come with plug adapters so you don`t need to cut the wireing. and a good one is about the same as HD but way nicer..everyone knows on some stuff you pay dearly for it to say HD on it. my kids got a harley BMX bike and it says made in japan right under the bar and sheild. it`s all about the money

My '04 Heritage came with one and I had them disable it when I picked up the bike, put the clickers in the drawer and have never used them once.
