Default Spedo question

Hello All-
I have a great opportunity to purchase a 2001 Night Train with LOW miles but I live in CA and this bike out of state. CA say I can bring it in only if it has the 50 state emissions sticker OR if it has over 7,500 miles on it.

Has anyone out there changed out the speedo on a night train for the same reason? If so, what is involved? Since the speedo is electronic is there any programming needed the Harleys for the rest of the gauges to see each other?

Thank you for the time,
TheFro

i think there is a time frame. 1 year from original sale I believe, so an older bike does not fall into the 7500 mile rule.

i just went through this when buying my rocker. i was purchasing a bike in oregon, but since i live in ca with a ca drivers license i had to buy a ca bike or not be able to register it in either oregon or ca.

i own a house in oregon and was living there there when i ordered my bike, but was in the process of moving to ca and had just gotten my ca drivers license 2 days before i went to pick up the bike. the dealer would not sell it to me, but did give me a list of all the dealers in ca that had the bike i wanted. the first dealer i called had it, 1 week later it was mine

good luck

A 2001 Night Train with less than 7500 miles? Nice find!

No programming involved. I believe it is same speedo as in all softails 2000 - 2003. Takes 10 minutes to replace.

Yeah, I ordered a speedo online from Zanottis. I got it for the tack. Anyhow, this dude asks....... How many miles you got on it now...... I said, 'bout 3k, he said, I'll set it up for 3.5k as it'll take a couple weeks to order and a couple weeks to send to Europe.

I think they must just have to take your word for it. Then again, maybe that was because I was in Europe. They may want that verified by a dealer if you're in the U.S.

Thing is.........You want to add miles, ....not take 'em off. Lol.

Sorry but the more I hear about Californy, the more I'm glad I don't live there again! I'm surprised they haven't thought of an emissions system to put up the dairy cows a$$ in San Joaquin Valley-now there's some pollution!
