Default Bones Boyz Listen In...

It's a wet Sunday over here & I've been in the garage tinkering and I think it's time for some advice....I've pushed the apes on the 'Bones forward by a few inches so that looking from the side, they are forward of the line of the springer front legs.

I think they feel so much more natural for the arms, but the wrists are bit more cramped, but Boy, do they look cool now.

Or are they? Lets have some thoughts on how apes should be fixed - in line with the forks or pushed forward?

Cuppa tea (it IS England after all) now & watching World Super Bikes on the box.

Aaaah..

:-)

Personal taste is it not? My mini apes are in line with my forks. Most seem at a forward angle though.

I prefer the pushed forward look - Wheres the pics? If the wrists are unhappy you might look for a set of bars with a different pull back angle...

I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow (it's bedtime soon, here!!) but the wrists are ok, just strange as I'm not used to it. Definitely feels more natural from the arms though.

Helps ya pose, too...

I was thinking of pushing mine forward by an inch or two. How are the bars while making slow turns? Post pics, I want to see what it looks like. I bet with 2" springs on the seat the reach would be perfect.

I actually do the oppisite and have mine pulled back a little, have 5000 miles on the bike and 2 1500 mile trips and for the 600 mile day pulled back are much more comfortable. I'm 5'10 taller riders might be different.

Ive got mine inline with the forks and the look works for me. But i agree with Gymrat on long trips(all day rides) they seem to feel better pulled back abit and im 6'3". To each his own, go with what you like.

Pushed forward. It may take a few minutes to get used to them that way, but I can't ride with mine either in line with the4 forks or pulled back. It just doesn't feel natural to me. Sorry, not a Bones, but you get the idea...
