Default Heel marks on pipes

I am a new member here and from what I see I like this site alot.

Can anyone advise me how to remove melted rubber heel marks on my pipes. This is an ongoing problem when I have a passenger on my bike.

Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated

There are other threads on this if you do a search. Most say WD-40 works the best, but it wouldn't touch it on the bike I just bought. I took mine off with a VERY FINE steel wool. It got it all off and the pipes look like new.

If a polish like Mothers don't get it off then try 0000 steel wool or you can use 000 nothing courser. It will shine the chrome to look like new

Oven cleaner works the best just gotta heat the pipes first, something else that does a good job is the primer that you would use for a pvc pipe connection ( the purple stuff) I have heard plenty of other stuff that works but those two seem to do the best job for me. BTW don't heat the pipes for the PV primer, stuff is pretty flamable and while it would prolly work better I wouldn't wanna be there when ya did it.

I use a single edge razor blade and scrape it off. You must use a new or good one that is not nicked. Scrapes the stuff right off. The quickest solution I have found yet.

terrt1955 did a product review on some remover that comes in a deodorant stick type package. Check the product review forums.

I hear "Peanut Butter" works great.

I use 000 Steel Wool myself.

I wipe it off with a terry cloth towel when I pull the bike in the garage after riding. the pipes are good and hot and the goo wipes right off.
I'll throw a little polish on those spots before my next ride when the bikes cold.

Use the passenger that put them there to scrape them off. You gotta set some ground rules if you want to keep your ride looking fresh with minimal effort.
