Fork oil capacity 02 Fat Boy ?
I'm doing a lower fork leg changeout on my 02 Fat Boy and I'd like to know the fork oil capacity. When I change the oil in the future, without removing the legs, is there a different amount to use? Can I hand tighten the 6mm allen head bolt on the bottom of the slider and be content with that torque? Thanks

You need a manual. They all told me this when I got here too. I think that torquing by hand is fine but you will get a lot of disagreement regarding this subject. Manual says 12.9 OZ's. I would imagine it's the same as was in there. Some people say to use a heavier oil as it soaks up the bumps better.

anubisss, When you drain the oil, remove the fork tube caps and remove the drain screw. The caps are not under pressure and only serve as a fill hole. The caps have a rubber washer underneath them and I guess it's up to you to replace them. You can purchase the cooper washers for the drain screws individually if you go to HD. I replaced my drain screws with a chrome hex drain screw set with washers (HD # 45848-03) I removed my cap carefully with a large adjustable wrench. My fork oil seal rebuild kit came from Drag Specialties (James Gaskets part# JGI-45849-84) and my fork guide bushings came from HD (45940-84). The SE fork oil made my bike take on a new personality.
