Default lighted passenger footboards

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i am thinking of installing ( i asked santa for them) lighted passenger footrests ( red led on the bottom side) that would also be like a side marker when folded up, i have the harley brake light conversion kit that lights up both the brake and rear turn lens ( they are red with a standard bulb) when the brake is applied, i am wondering if i could hook the led's into the rear turn signal wiring and make the led's work as a side turn signal along with being a running light or is there a special need for adding more load to the turn signal circuit?

oops sorry that is my other harley ( the green one)

The Turn signals can act as both marker lights/turn signal/break lights. there are several modules that can do the job. I have the lit passenger floorboards and they offer a little more visibility.

It wouldn't overload the circuit. The floorboards are LED. Your profile does not have a location but check with your local DMV. Having a flashing "red" light when viewed from the side could draw some unwanted attention.
Here's two example from neighboring states which could be interpreted differently by LEO's

From the CA DMV 25106 (b) Lamps meeting requirements established by the department for side-marker or combination clearance and side-marker lamps may be
installed on the sides of vehicles at any location, but any lamp installed within 24 inches of the rear of the vehicle shall be red, and any lamp installed at any other location shall be amber.

How far is the floorboard from the rear of the vehicle?

From Oregon 816.190
a) Rearward side marker lights shall be red.
b) Forward side marker lights and intermediate side marker lights shall be amber.
