Default Mounting a front fender on a Rocker

Hello, I have an 09 Rocker and am interested in mounting a West Coast Chopper outlaw front fender. I would like the fender as close as possible to the tire when I mount it. My question is: how close can I mount the fender over the tire without the risk of rubbing? Also, is there anything special I need to do when I drill the holes? Thanks in advance.

When I did mine I used a thick extension cord(bout3/8"). Keep your bit straight and go slow. The best wasy is to find a pen that fits tight in the fork hole put the fender on with the cord underneath and draw a circle, take it of punch it and drill it in steps. Take your time and post pics when your done good luck.

it's mounted on the same part of the shock that the tire is so it won't slam into it...but you should give it some clearance in case a rock or something else gets wedged between fender and tire and messes up your fender

Tires expand as they heat up. Also I forgot about the rocks makes a great noise as it screaches on by.

I would noy mount it much lower than stock if you are looking for that low mounted look get somthing that wraps around,Lundee pointed out about the expansion & the rate of such will depend on tire pressure, road temp, tire type & age.
good luck ...

very true. you have to leave a little bit of room to allow for tire growth when your tire heats up.

Good deal, I'll be posting some pics pretty soon. I recently put on some Martin Bros shockwave pipes on it that really sets it off. I burned my pant leg on them a couple of times and it left some marks on the pipe. I bought "blue stuff" (that's the actual name) from the HD dealership, but it didn't take off the marks. Once I remove those damn marks, I'll post pics. Thanks for the quick response. BTW, any suggestions on good pipe cleaning polish?
