Temporary high idle - hot start

Temporary high idle - hot start
I have noticed with mine that if I turn off the motor after I have ridden it long enough to fully warm up the motor, it will temporarily idle higher than normal when I start it up again. It is only if it has been off for a short time say 10min. The idle is fine until I give it some throttle then it stays higher for about 20 - 30 sec. It is almost like the ECM thinks the bike is cold similar to choking it. The higher idle I am guessing is about an additional 200 - 300rpm or so. It seems to be more repeatible in the cooler weather but it did do it a few times over the summer. It also did it before I did the stage 1 mods.
Has anyone experienced this? I have thought about having it checked out but visiting dealer service dept is not high on my list.
Thanks.

Mine does the same thing and it is a normal function. The idle increases to warm the o2 sensors so they will work. It warms the O2's to get in closed loop as soon as it can. Autos dont do it as they have heaters in them. The efi system used in motorcycles are the same as cars were back in the 80's, just more refined. Give the govt time and they will make the cycle makers do the same.
