I lowered my Fatboy. Did it for the look which is why most do it. I did not like the gag between the rear tire and fender. As for handling I lowered my bike about 1.5 inch and I dont feel any difference at all in the handling do to the lowering, I do believe the bike rides better (more comfortable) and handles better (less bounce, tracks better ) because of the Progressive 422 shocks that I used to lower it. I believe that they are superior shocks than the stock HD and have improved the handling.

I had mine lowered 1" when I bought it (I'm short). I just used the lowering kit to be more cost effective. I plan on getting proper low shocks in a couple of months though. I didnt lower the front. I don't have anything to compare to, cause this is my first bike and was lowered at purchase, but mine handles very well. I have the floorboard extentions to and hardly ever scrape.
