Thanks for replying
Nice bike BTW...you may re-join the class now

Some sweet bikes here, you guys are selling me hard
I had my Crossbones lowered straight out of the shop from new, got it home and replaced the seat springs from standard 3" to 2" lowering the seat height by nearly 3" looks great rides well, had lots of comments on how much better it looks
I ran my Heritage lowered for a couple years. (1" in frt 1.75 Rr). It did look cool !!! Personally, I didn't like the ride. On a smooth hiway it was great. In the mountains on less than perfect roads it sucked. It scraped on everything. It bottomed out. Then on a washhboard freeway, it really sucked.
I put it back to stock.
Knowing what I know now. If I was to lower a Softail again, I would not use the Harley front fork springs. They are junk junk junk. I'd go White Bro's or Prog Susp. Then Air ride in the rear, so I could adj the height. I understand from a reliable source, the air-ride is as nice a ride as you can get under a Softail. The reliable source was my buddies 05 Heritage that I rode a week ago. Rode every bit as good (if not better) than mine stock.
My wife's 03 Heritage still has the HD lwr'ing kit frt & rear. It still rides like a bucket of monkey nuts. She rides it so little (sad too- she rode it once last year . . . ONCE!! Makes me sick to see it sit there, but no R/S value)
Anyhow got off track. Lowering is mostly for looks. Does drop the center of gravity. Makes for a very stable/firm ride.

not to be a jerk or anything, but come on!?! why lower/lift anything? ive had trucks that i lifted. ive had trucks that i slammed. its about getting the look and performance that you want. same with bikes. dropped bikes look cool, but scrape stuff earlier. is this post for real???
