Smile Help buying an 09 Softail Custom

My wife likes my 08 Softail Custom so much I thought I would buy here one for Valentines Day.

Yes.......you got to show her you only want her to ride the best.

Anyway.....we got a price for a black one OTD of 18,300.00.

Is that a good price or is there a dealer in So. Calif. that could do better.

I got my custom last Mar. with 2-tone paint and tires for life for $17,500 otd. I kinda feel with the economy like it is that you can get it lower if you dig your heels in and/or shop around. Get some dealers bidding against each other. You can do alot by phone.

Default haggle with the dealer

Harley sales are down over 30%. Many dealerships are hurting, so they ought to be able to deal with you on what you want.
Go figure, my 07 Fatboy was 17450 plus tax and the 09's are going for 15999 plus tax here in Washington State.

Haggle!

There's a 'But' in there too, though. I'd be keen to find a dealer that you'd trust if anything needs a change under warranty, how far, how easy etc.

Another lever is to ask for either clothing or accessories to sweeten the deal, gives the dealer much more room to manouvre.

After all, skin him too lean & he won't be there for anyone in six months..

its in the range of a good deal but as recommended from others already see if they can't throw some other goodies in as well

It really doesn't sound bad, but don't look for a reason to be sour about your purchase if you find out that maybe you paid too much. Just go out and enjoy it.
