Which ignition for custom 84-99 softail?
I'm building an 84-99 softail style custom 200 wide rear. I just got my used 1986 bone stock (so far as I know) EVO for it and I want to put a new ignition on it as the stocker looks 23 years old. I was thumbing through catalogs and noticed single fire, dual fire, single coil, dual coil, etc. According to the J&P website all versions will work since it says "fits your bike". So which ignition do I choose. It only has 1 plug per cylinder and I also need a carb since it doesn't have one or breathers and I'm looking at the Mikuni 42-8 kit to upgrade that while I'm at it. It's going to have snub nose big growl exhaust and I may end up putting a cam in it or I might just wait and see how it runs before I throw a cam in it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I went with the Dynatek 2ki on my 95.

Also went with their single fire, single outlet, 3ohm coils too.
Very happy with the results. Variable timing setting allows you to play a bit.

Well I mean what's the difference between the single and dual fire ignitions and coils. I'm new to this and trying to learn as much as possible in as little of time as possible. I want to buy an ignition and coil, but I don't want to order the wrong stuff then have to send it back. I was thinking about the Ultima programmable ignition kit since I've got all Ultima wiring for the bike and handlebar controls.
