I run the Daytona Twin-Tec 1007EV in Bertha. I have their single fire coil as well, but I don't know that it does any better job than a dual fire coil does. I bought it as their 3007EV kit - with the module, single fire coil, and their spiral core plug wires that you have to make up to length. I dumped those wires though, and currently run a set of premade SE wires - $12 from the dealer. Runs great, and has lots of options you can set - even your own advance map if you like, using their software and (expensive) USB cable.
I run the Screamin' Eagle ignition.
I have read tons on this topic, and I have yet to find ANY documented evidence that single fire is any better than dual fire...period. Particularly when it comes to claims of "performance" gains....they are just not there. Nothing.
I've seen with my own eyes a bike on the Dyno, the ignition swapped out to single fire....right back on the Dyno it goes, and guess what.....almost identical curve and numbers, as no two pulls are exactly the same.
Here's what Nightrider has to say about this topic....
To each their own, but until someone, anyone, shows me some documented facts....not just hear say, theory, or their opinion, my thought would be to spend your hard earned money elsewhere if you're looking to increase performance in your machine.....just sayin'
I'm running an Ultima Programmable Ignition with their single fire coil. This ignition module is actually a Dynatec ignition that's been re-branded as an Ultima. Jireh sells these (under the Ultima name) as a complete kit (coil, wires, and all) for $154.00 with free shipping.
I've had the Ultima Ignition on my Evo for about six months now and it's been trouble free.
As for single vs. dual fire coils, and purely from a theoretical standpoint, the dual fire produces a wasted spark. And the energy to create that spark has to come from somewhere. If nothing else your coil is working twice as hard for no good reason.
