How much difference in size between heritage & fat boy leather saddlebags?

 

Heritage bags are about twice the size or more of the Fatboy bags. Reason is the FatBoy comes with shotgun exhaust, leaving very little usable space for bags.

You need about 1 1/2-2 inches of clearance above your pipes to avoid burning your bags..

 

Or buy the bags with heat shields.

 

I had bags bigger than the heritage on my fatboy with shotgun exhaust, easy brackets forward mounts

 

If your looking for bags, I would stay away from any of the HD Bags. For the most part they are smaller and more expensive than going after market. Try Osprey at www.saddlebags.net or Leather Works, Boss Bags ect. There are a lot of good threads about bags on this forum.

I have the Ospry Bull Bags with Easy Brackets on my Fatboy. about $ 500.00 and they are 19" x 8" x 13" latrge enough to fit leather jacket, pants and 1/2 helmet with a little more room in one bag

 

Just checked the HD website. Fatboy Saddlebags have 860 Cubic Inches of storage space.

Heritage bags have 1100 Cubic Inches.

 

Most of the aftermarket bags like Boss, Leatherworks or Osprey for their large bags are closer to 1500 -1900 cubic inches of space.

The heritage bags are smaller at the lids 9top) so they loose a lot of cargo space and the HD Fatboy bags are very small
