I hang out with a guy who has about 7 harleys, mostly old pan heads, and has 1 with an open primary.
I made a comment one day about how I loved the look.
He said that he can't ride in traffic as they over heat and the clutch will lock up. He also talked about running every other spring in the clutch.

Looks cool but it seemed like a lot of work to ride to me.
He was an old biker and was use to working on his Harleys. I am not old school and like to just ride. I'll look at his or hang a picture of one in my garage.

the only open primary that would look good on that bike is the performance machine one..
because they make parts that are forward looking. all those other open belt drive are so dated, they make a bike 10 years older but in a bad way. they only look half way decent on rat bikes

I was wonderning the same thing, how would an open belt look. I guess it's a no go. I did recieve my jockey shift on Wed. Can't wait to get it on. But, I still have to wait for my foot clutch to get here. It's suppose to be shipped week after next.

I like the Black contrast cut primary from PM. Would go real nice with my train.
I downloaded the install instructions. Read though it all and seems like a job I can deal with.
My question is after looking at parts list I see nothing about the clutch. I'm wondering if I then need to order a whole other dry clutch system also. I haven't found anymore info on this and nothing is talked about in the instructions.
Anyone have any ideas?
Rob

I have a BDL open belt drive on my 2012 Slim and I do love it. It’s been there for two and half year and running great. 😎😎
