Anyone install a belt drive open primary on a dyna? I've been wanting to but I want to know if some one has one and has put alot of miles on it. If so would you do it again or stay with stock?
I don't personally own one but a buddy of mine has one. It seems to be a total pain in the *** to me. Everytime a small stone gets thrown up into it the belt shreds itself. They look and sound cool but they're best left for the showbikes.
I just ordered a closed primary belt drive ... I'm not doing it for looks so didn't really care if anyone can see it or not ... I also kind of like the look of an open chain drive ... I think Indian Larry Legacy/Paul *** is one of the current builders with that look ....
If going with an open belt drive, I kind of prefer the old school look of a narrow belt drive vice the widest you can find 3-1/2" or whatever ... I would think a narrower belt would reduce the likelihood of a foreign object lodging on the belt ....

Tech Cycles also has belt drives for '06 and later Dyna ('07 and later twin cam) ... as do several other mfrs ....
