Default Relocating Fatboy front turn signals - help!

2002 Fatboy, I'd like to move the stock turn signals from the handle bars to the bottom bolt on the front forks - to include the bushing for mounting a (gulp) windshield. I've made a 7/16 stud to do this, question is - how best to deal with the wiring? As I have to spin the light to mount it, the wires have to be loose. I was hoping I could do this without pulling the gas tank, etc. to disconnect the harness. Can I cut and splice the wires behind the headlight / triple-tree without causing any issues?
thanks in advance,
Rando

I just finished this exactly, I had my tank off because i also replaced bars and cables but you can do it all and hide the extra wire behind the fork tins. I removed the 2 rear fork tins, cut the signal wires, drilled a 1/4" hole in each tin close to where the signal would mount and put a grommet in to secure/protect the wire. I think the thread you want for this is
5/16-24 not 7/16.

Don't forget to put some clear nail polish or clear paint on any bare metal edges or it will start rusting on you almost before you finish.

Default tread

you need about a 1.5 stud i just did mine last week. i had the hardest time finding a stud or a bolt that long of treads to cut the head off. luckily i work at a race car shop and we sell arp so i had some there. if you cant find the studs give me a holler and i can get you hooked up they are like 50 cents a piece at work.

I was able to loosen my tank(without removing tank) and pull it back far enough get to the turn signal connector(right side of tank near front). Just popped wires out of connector with jewelers screwdriver and installed with no splicing !

If your bike is fuel injected and you do move the tank, make damn sure you disconnect the fuel line on the bottom left side or you'll be shopping for a new one for $50.

C-Plus, or others of course
I'm planning to do this mod soon, (08 fatboy)
can i prop the front of the tank up enough to get to the harness without forkin up the gas line?
and also all the wires in each side of the bars are wrapped together in harley's "conduit", can i pull just the turn signal wires out or would i need to pull all wires out and seperate?
