84 evo blowby
Ok new top end on my evo and it had to sit for 2 years . So she never got to break in , fast forward 2 years and an 1100 mile move south , I rejet the carb, new plugs , fired her up , started first shot , now I have an issue that is pissing me off..Im letting her idle all of a sudden I have blowby out of my crank vent tube. I never had blowby b4 I had the top end done .its a steady stream of smoke just coming out of the breather tube . on top of that Im having jetting issues but that ill handle next .the bike was ready to go till I saw this blowby issue .I dident do the work And my buddy who did is no longer in the bussiness, and almost impossible to get in touch with. Im not sure If Im getting the b.b. from rings seating them selves or if there is an issue I need to address. when the work was done ( sorry almost 3 years ago) I had kb 9.5:1 pistons done , an ev 27 cam and an s&s breather gear , also kibblewhite valves were done .Im done screwing around , and Dont have the cash to have somone look into this for me ..Any help would be great .

Did you get to put any break-in miles on it before the hibernation? Best guess are the rings never seated and the oil is blowing up past 'em and the gasses are blowing down past 'em and venting out the crank case. Probably making a lovely puffing/swishing sound through the crank breather too.
If your 84 has a kicker, (some do some dont) remove the plugs and squirt a little light oil into the cylinders. Go through a routine of letting soak, kicking over slowly, and reapplying to be sure everything frees up. Then treat it like your just breaking them in. Periods of acceleration with a load followed by decel seems to seat em best.
Sometimes the old b*stards will clear up and run right after an extended period of storage, but its hard to say with fresh rings sitting against fresh cylinders for years, probably a rusty spot or a ring that is hopefully temp stuck.
Good luck.

im gonna spray some wd40 in their like the old days of unsticking rings ..she maybe got 15 miles on her b4 the man said I needed to visit with him for a while so it sat , then shipped down here to fla, now Its time to resurrect her and shes being stubborn as all get out . well see what happens with the rings and soaking them a few days , and kicking it through slow couple times a day . next is my jetting issues , but thats just a trial and error situation ..
thanks Ill spray tonight rthen check back in in a few

heres where Im at , dont think the rings are stuck.I think I washed the rings and Im gonna be re ringing the bike on a brand new top end ..Im gonna fire her up tomorrow after soaking the cylinders with tranny fluid for almost 3 days , I just have a feeling I wrecked the rings on the front cylinder ...Ugh , well see when I run her tomorrow..Ill keep updating when I get dome with it

well after 3 days of soaking and kicking through and soaking again i put in fresh plugs and she fired up first shot ..let her idle a lil while and the blowby came back and the plugs are oil soaked , put in another set of plugs took her for a light ride , still blowby and oil fouled plugs ..guess Im redoing the top end again , needless to say that I am pretty freakin pissed .eh such is life hopefully itll just be rings and a quick cylinder honing and ill be back on my way .
Sometimes you just have to spank her like the little B**ch she is! Glad it worked out for you.
