Question bobtail fender rack

Have a question on the bobtail fender racks -- How easy to take on and off? It looks like one end is held by the seat screw. How is it attached near the taillight? Sorry, just looking at pictures on ebay and trying to figure out how it mounts. I'd like to get one for trips if they are easy to remove.

The seat screw holds one end as you say. The other end is two bolts through the chrome angle piece just below the tail light. Only takes a couple of minutes to remove it.

Very easy to install and remove. I take mine off for summer, and re-install for trips, or once fall hits, so I have somplace to strap a jacket.

Wow, I was looking for the exact same answer! Anybody have one with a Tri-bar LED tail light? Anything different about the mounting?

Thanks for answers. I don't remember having any metal to bolt things to under the tailight. I thought its all plastic. When rain stops, I'll get it out of the bike barn and look again.

Mcglothi - I think there is an adapter plate to use with the tribar light. I've seen that sold seperately.

I just installed one with my tri-bar LED taillight last weekend. As mentioned, you have to order a special taillight housing bracket for them to work together. You'll have to remove the taillight to install the new bracket, but once the bracket is in place removing/installing the rack is a breeze!

To install the rack with a stock taillight, you have to drill two holes in the bottom of the taillight housing bracket.

iron gypsy where did you get the adapter bracket and do you have any pics. i have the tri bar and the rack but ended up altering it a little to make it work since my dealer kept tellin me that the two wouldnt fit together. knew there had to be something to make it work since harleys parts book shows a pic of the two together.

I got mine from the dealership. It depends on which rack you have, but with the one I've got I needed the HD Installation Kit P/N 59320-07. If you look up the taillight in the MOCO catalog, it will tell you which racks will work with it and which ones won't. I'm out of town, so I can't get any pics right now.
