Default Keeping the white white...

Are Whitewall Tires difficult to keep clean?

Even after a short afternoon run....wouldn't the 'white' be 'spotted' an' 'smeared'?

those of you who have whitewalls....
I'd appreciate any comments.

Get Lyndall "dustless" brake pads first. I clean mine by spraying them with Shout! laundry stain remover, scrubbing a little, and hosing off. Works great. It is more work than having black walls, but I am a slave to vanity. There are numerous methods of cleaning them including sos pads, simple green, harley wheel cleaner, etc. etc. etc. Do a search and you will find many threads.

My bike has the "all roads lead to Chrome" look.

Before each ride...I clean the chrome / windshield / painted surfaces. ( bugs and grime )
It really doesn't take that much time and I enjoy the results.
The tires can usually be ignored ( cleaning ) for a considerable time because they show 'just black'.

I guess I'm wondering if whitewalls will need to be part of my 'daily' cleaning routine?

If you keep up with 'em, they're not too bad. Just picked up something called a "Rollastand" listed in the J & P Cycles catalog. You pull the tire up on it and you can spin it by hand.

They're a bit of work, but Mr. Clean Magic Erasers every couple of washes keeps them looking nice.

i've heard of those lydelzs (or whatever) breaks workin good. personaly i think they are a pain in the *** if your tryin to keep them white, white, i always get break dust and road grim on mine. i only clean them if i'm gonna enter my bike in a show....and then i use WD-40...works like a charm
