Question Engine Guard Fitment - Deluxe

Folks,

I'm new here - just bought a new 09 Deluxe a month ago - have a question about engine guards.

My buddy has loaned me the engine guard he used to have on his 02 Deuce presuming it should fit on my 09 Deluxe. I can't seem to make it fit. Should the same guard fit most/all Softails of recent vintage? When I put in the top center bolt I can put in one side bolt but can't get the other one to fit (even with all loose). It's really not that close - off by about 0.5 inch. It looks like I would have to push real hard up on the guard to get the third bolt to line up. That does not seem right. Should it fit? Could my buddy's guard be sprung a little to not fit?

Thanks.

Jon

There's something sprung alright & it isn't the guard. Are you kidding ?

No, it's a regular question. Should the guard that fit on an 02 Deuce fit my 09 Deluxe? The guard is the mustache style with highway pegs.

FL and FX use different guards.

No, it should not fit. Get the right one if you want it to bolt right up.

Thank you very much! I think my buddy and I were under the impression that the same guard fit most/all Softails of recent vintage.

I'll try to do better research next time.
