Default Putting drag bars on Night Train...

I currently have a set of apes on my Night Train right now, 10 inch. I have a set of Wild1 Chubby Drags w0501b (black -8inch rise) that I was thinking of putting on instead.

Here are my questions:

My apes are not internally wired right now, so if I put the drags on I may stay with the wires external. If so, any difficulty doing a straight bar swap? How difficult was it to remove the housing and controls?

Anyone here go from apes to drags? I'm worried that the 8" rise on the drags won't be good after getting spoiled by the apes. I am expecting a different feel, however.

I went from stock bars, which are similar to 10" apes, to drag bars w/6" risers. It was a simple process however I did have to change all of my cables. Totally different feel and riding position but I love it! Oh yeah be careful removing the housings, Mine dropped and hit my tank, chipping it, so lay a plush towel over your tank before you start removing stuff. My bike was gunmetal (blue) when this happened, and , well now it's black. Good luck on the project.

If you do external wires your bar swap will be soooo cake.

You could easily be done start to finish in about an hour, hour and a half.

The stock housings and controls come off in minutes...Your wiring is just sitting in the dimples of your bars. You can pull off each side in one fell swoop and slip them right on the new bars. You dont even need to disconnect brake or clutch line cept' I would disconnect your battery just in case something gets crazy......

Why did you have to change the cables? Because they were too long or too short? I'm gonna measure the wiring and hope it's long enough.

Cool, thanks. That's what I was thinking but wanted to be sure. The only problem (as stated above) would be if my lines were too short, correct? Too long is fine (just may not look nice)?

Default Good luck

I changed the bars on my Train and ran the wires internally. That was the biggest pain in the a$$. Make sure you are long on patience. The job was straightforward and simple... not easy.
