Default Mini apes on night train

After asking around and sitting on some bikes I've decided to put some mini apes on my 08 Night Train. Originaly I wanted some Crossbones bars but found a set of 12"ers that after a lot of measuring and sitting on my bike I think will be perfect.

SOoooooooooooooo, I'm hoping to hear from anybody who has done similar and if any of the stock cables, wires, or lines worked......or if I need to get all new and if so how long.

Did my 07 and you will need a new clutch cable for sure, and brake line but the other electrical ones will work there is a bunch folded up under the tank

I'm rockin 14's and I had to add 12" to the stock length of all cables.

I'm 99% sure you cant use the stock cables.

It all depends on the 'risers'. I went from 9" risers+ drag bars (previous owner) to 12" Zee bars that has a bit of a pull back and down and 1" RSD riser, and was able to keep my stock (FXST) front break cables.
I went with new throttle/Clutch.

Not all 12" are the same, not all risers are the same.

Also keep in mind, that it is very fashionable and hip to have the bars roll forward a bit, (yes I know fashion comes and goes, but this one is staying with me), some bar makers, have the bars with a slight bend half way, but if you roll the bars forward, you may find a 10" bars is better as they get taller and further from you a bit.

Hope this helps.. but apes .. are just SO friggin much fun

Put these 8" bars with 1" risers on mine with stock cables and it was a stretch. I had to "modify" my clutch cable and brake line. Don't want to change my cables cuz I like to change out between these and the stock drag bars with 6 and 8" risers.

Thanks yall. The 12"ers and 1.5" risers are on order. I dont care much for fasion or trends, I just want to be comfortable enough to ride my bike more than a hour and a half, wich I'm not able to do now with the drags due to a messed up back.

I was pretty sure the cables and brake line wouldnt reach, just wasnt sure by how far. I wanted to go ahead and order some so I wouldnt be bikeless....but think I'll wait till they get here so I can do it right. But now I know I can start pricing cables and a line 10" or so longer!
Thanks again

12.5's... This should be close as it's been awhile...

Throttle & Idle --- 37"

Clutch --- 68"

Brake line --- 46"

Or as close as you can get...

What bars are you going to be running?

And you'll need wire extensions I buy the color coded ones it just makes it easier.
How about the poly bushing for the riser bolts? You'll wanna order those also... Heat shrink?
I try to think of every thing I need before I start and so should you... I hate starting something
and not being able to finish because of something really small that I over looked... But thats just
me.

One more thing if going from the 6" risers to the 1.5" riser... I'm pretty sure you are gonna need
new riser bolts... I did... You can get grade 8 bolt from the hardware store.

Oh yeah the brake line ends they come in different degreees of angles and I can't remember what I'm running.

Keep in mind that different bars may not measure the same some are more narrow some have more pull and so on... Good luck with the apes I know you'll luv 'em.
