Just a thought, but those of you who are complaining of the noise - could it be because you are wearing full face helmets. I love the sound of my V&H Big Radius now that I have "calibrated" the baffles, but I can not ride far with my full face helmet without getting a headache. No problem at all with my half helmet.

You can try all the quiet stuff you want. Use V&H and you ears are going to bleed. Been there done that. Tried long shots, big shot longs and big shot longs with quiet baffles. All too loud. Put your head pipes back on, drop some Harley SE slipons on and keep the mapping and air upgraded. You will keep the rumble you are looking for.

Doc
Have the V&H Longshots and have absolutely no problem with the sound. Even had comments that they are not very loud even with the stock (not "quiet") baffles. Highway cruising is almost without any engine sound at all, as everything seems to stay behind you.

Thanks for all the responses. The Big Shots were not bad until I did the 95" high compression upgrade. Even after I put the quiet baffles in, they're still too damn loud. I had the V&H Longshots on my last bike, an FXST, and they were also louder than I liked, even without the 95" upgrade. I don't care for the configuration of the stock headpipes, otherwise I'd just put those back on (although I'd actually have to BUY a set - who ever heard of such a thing? LOL) with SE slip-ons. I heard somewhere else that 2-into-1s were quieter than 2-into-2s. Anybody have some 2-into-1s with a decent (not blatty), not too loud sound that they can vouch for?

Loud pipes saves lives. I have V/H Longshots on my '05 Deluxe. I have a friend that has LS's on a Dyna. His wife will sometimes put in ear plugs. My wife has no complaint of noise when we ride 2 up. I have some hearing loss but not because of pipes, but because of race cars, used to be on pit crew, so I don't notice the loudness as much as others.

QUIET BAFFFLES------I don't even know what my pipes sound like without them because I had them added before I picked up the bike. Everyone notices the difference in sound when I'm out at poker runs or hanging out. The tone is lowered, deeper, with a little more bass instead of just plain loud. I think this is the cheapest solution and then if too loud---go for different pipes. I agree with others.....the sound is way behind me and I have no problem with them being too loud. I only hear it when I allow someone to ride it so I can hear what it sounds like to others.

Try some Pythons. They have a hidden crossover and have the look you want. I have a pair of my heritage

what he said!!!!!!

Doc, I respectfully disagree. I have longshots on my fattie and they sound great. The only noise problems I have is the wind -- the pipes, and their rumble, are well behind me and any passenger I might be carrying.
What they both said, V&H Longshots are the way to go.

Put 45,000 miles per year under your butt and I don't think you will like them day to day. I LOVE loud pipes and would love to have kept them if I rode every once and awhile. But every day 365, I just couldn't.. Day in and day out, they were just too loud. I must be just too old. I do love the look and sound of the V&H. I respect all that love them.

I love my V&H Longshots w/o Baffles.

You know what they say, "If it's too loud, you're too old."
