Heritage Springer seat question
Hey Heritage Springer riders, How comfortable is the stock seat? Specifically, 97-99 seat. I really want to stay with a solo seat but the stock Deluxe seat is a killer afer 1 hour. If not, what solo seats are recommended? I read more negative about Mustang and Corbin than positive. Appriciate feedback.
Don't have a 97-99, but I do ride a 2002 Heritage Springer. The stock seat was like straddling a 6" pipe. I changed it out for a Mustang seat with backrest and added an Alaska Leather sheepskin buttpad. Much better!!
I am a custom seat fabricator, and I am sure I could help you out. We offer many options for our seats. We could upholster a seat for you that would feel like your sitting on your couch. We can use many different materials to cover your seat to make it look a lot better than a stock solo seat also. If you have any questions feel free to email me @ leeedder0382@yahoo.com. Thanks.

I have the regular Springer with the Badlands seat I believe and the last ride was for about 2 hours. By the end, I thought I was straddling a piece of concrete. Talked to my sales guy and he said give it some time. Some of the seats take a while to break in--either that or my *** was gonna get a callus. I'll be interested in tracking this myself. At my age, a little comfort on the butt is a good thing.
I actually love my stock seat. I've got an '03 Heritage Springer with 37,000 plus on it already. I ride about 40 miles a day...the work thing...and the wife and I do about 200 every weekend. We also take 350 and 540 mile runs (one way) to Phoenix and so. Arizona to visit the relatives about every third month. These runs are a straight shot, no breaks except for gas and potty for the wife.
Our longest 2-up ride is 11 hours...San Diego to Tucson by way of backroads. 86 other bikes on the same trip...what fun... anyways my longest solo is 14 hours straight up the coast, spent the night, came home the next day.
My butt started getting sore around the 11 hour point but after stopping for an hour for food and a break I was fine for the rest of the trip.
I'm perfectly happy with my seat, haven't done any mods to it. My wifes seat is a whole different story since her's is a detachable setup.
One thing that I did find was that the tall rider backrest that attaches to the wrap around railing does wonders versus the short one that I have for around town.
If the stock seat is not that comfortable, find a reliable seat maker and have them redo the foam with the auto memory foam. It's pretty pricey but worth the price in comparison to gell seats.
