Default Hints on draining Transmission...

Getting ready for an oil change and wondered if anyone can reccomend a good low profile drain pan for the tranny or a technique that is less messy. Everytime I drain it, I end up spilling on the floor because my lift is so close it is hard to get my drip pan up under far enough to catch all the oil.

What do you guys do?

I dont use a lift for the engine or trans. Low pan, pull the plug. Let drain, sit on the bike and stand it up straight to get all that you can out.
Thats it.

I agree. No lift when draining fluids. Get a small plastic pan for about 3 dollars at wally world.

The drain pan I have is to tall to fit under my bike at all since I lowered it.
To drain my engine oil, I park the rear tire on a 2 inch concrete block and the pan fits fine.
I also use this block to get my Craftsman lift under the bike.
Last time I changed the transmission oil, I jacked up the bike, put a big cinder block under each tire and the side stand and lowered it back down on the blocks. That allowed me to remove the jack and get the drain pan under the bike and plenty of room to get the plug out.
Worked great, did not spill a drop.

Sorry don't have any pics.

An anti-freeze jug with the side cut out works pretty darn good.
