Yea, I'm no fan of bags on a bike either... However, they look decently okay on bikes that was purposely designed with that in mind. Nevertheless, like you said if one intends to go some distance and needs to haul some stuff it's a necessary evil...

I've seen the solo bags and never really cared for them. They really provide little hauling space and only look half way decent on some bikes. To me I'd rather throw a back pack on as I could haul more, O' I might look like an idiot but at least the bike looks nice.

See the thing is I'll hardly ever be using the bags but rarely. So, it's seems like a crime to hide nice wheels behind bags and their hardware that just clutters up the looks of bike when 99% I won't be using the bags.

Interesting... I'll happily say the bags are styled nice and it looks like good quality stuff. My only issue and it really has nothing to do with your set up but more of my personal situation. 99% time I won't be using bags and with that style of set up your talking about leaving the support brackets in place. No disrespect but those think coat hanger wire left dangling from the fender once the bags are removed ruins the look of a bike. Sure I suppose one could remove that as well but then you have the problem of where it mated up with the chrome fender strut. It's going to leave scratch marks, indention circles etc,. which isn't going to look nice either and equally as bad as leaving the bracket in place.

Like I said I really am not saying anything negative about your set up. It looks high quality and well designed. If I was going to recommend a set up whom intende to use their bags often your set up would be one of the top 5 I'd suggest...

I just don't know what would work well for my given situation? But I know there must be a way to find something close to a good compromise.
