Default speedo/tach issue..

Purchased a new 2010 Fatboy in Jan. Bike had 23 miles on it when I instralled a combo speedo/tach. Bike now has 1016 miles. This weekend, while riding about 25mph, I looked down and the speedo was registering 80mph. Would not drop below 80mph. If I sped up it would increase. It would register 80mph even when stopped. Tach and odometer worked fine. Stopped for gas, switched bike off, still read 80. Turned to ACC. Speedo dropped to 0. Started bike and everything started working correctly again. I feel it will happen again. Anyone got an idea what's going on?

Warranty that part. I have read mixed reviews of the speedo tach combo as a lot of people have had issues with them dying prematurely.
