Default Oil input

Just did my first oil change over the weekend. Actually posted for tips and received many good ideas. But I thought the engine had a three qrt capacity? Am I wrong? I read someplace 3 qrts would be needed during re-servicing. Mine only took 2, and yes I let it drain for over an hour. Thoughts?

Default Oil

Mine takes about 2.8 with filter change.proper procedure for oil change. run bike get it hot. drain oil remove filter pour some oil in new filter and replace. add oil about about 2.8 including the oil you put in the filter. Take the bike for a ride get hot. let idle for about two minutes shut down let oil drain a couple of minutes, check oil top off to fill when hot mark should only take about 2.8 total. There is always about 28 ounces in the sump that does not come out with an oil change total capacity for the bike is about four quarts counting the 28 in the sump.

Dry its 3+, you can't drain it completely, yes you leave a quart of used oil in there that's why I scavenge every change

cool color bike
mine takes 2.6 with filter change. warmed the bike and then drained the oil and then removed the messy filter and let that drain a little more. all done on the side stand but held the bike up and left and right to get the oil out of the drain.
