Default points cover question

Hey guys, i know this might be a newb question, especially after everything i've already accomplished haha! Ok so can i just swap out my points cover or do i have to drain my oil or anything first?

If you're talking about the timing cover (I assume you are if it's the bike in your sig) then yes, just change it. Nothing behind it but air.

when you take it off you are just gonna shake your head. The only reason that little cover is even designed into the cam cover is to sell aftermarket pieces. It is an empty sealed hole behind it.
